Zhan zhuang, also known as standing meditation or standing like a tree, is a traditional Chinese practice that involves standing in a stationary posture for an extended period of time. The term "zhan zhuang" translates to "standing like a post" or "standing pole." It is a fundamental training method in various Chinese martial arts, particularly in internal styles like Tai Chi and Qigong.
In zhan zhuang, practitioners assume a specific posture, typically with feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent. The arms and hands are positioned in various configurations, depending on the specific style or method being practiced. The practitioner then remains still in this posture, focusing on relaxation, alignment, and cultivating internal energy.
The primary goal of zhan zhuang is to develop and strengthen the body's internal energy or "qi." By standing still and holding the posture, practitioners aim to improve their physical alignment, balance, stability, and mental focus. It is believed that through consistent practice, zhan zhuang can enhance overall health, increase body awareness, develop internal strength, and facilitate the flow of energy throughout the body.
Zhan zhuang is often practiced as a form of meditation, allowing individuals to quiet their minds, concentrate on the present moment, and cultivate a sense of inner calmness. It is considered a holistic practice that integrates the physical, mental, and energetic aspects of a person's well-being.
While zhan zhuang is commonly associated with martial arts, it can also be practiced as a standalone discipline for health and relaxation purposes. Many individuals find it beneficial for stress reduction, improving posture, increasing body awareness, and promoting overall vitality.

Master Huang ShaoSong was born in Inner Mongolia, where he started to train in traditional wushu at the early age of five years old. At the age of ten, he was the only athlete able to accomplish one of the most difficult and ancient qigong techniques: the handstand on two indexes. This exercise which requires extreme control and balance, made him get the nickname “boy with the iron fingers”.

Naturally leading towards modern wushu, he soon won many Chinese taolu competitions, both with and without weapons, and in 1985 is chosen to enter the unique Shaolin Temple, becoming a member of the 32nd generation of warrior monks.

After many years of international tours with the Chinese team, he decided to travel across China and learn all the different styles of wushu, and then finally get into the Chengdu Sport University where he will graduate magna cum laude and will be asked to train the athlete team.

His ability will have him join many Chinese action movies as a stuntman actor, he will also have the leading role in “Wu Ji”, an Italian short movie selected and acclaimed by many international film festivals.

After visiting Italy for one of his international stages, he will decide to fund here his own school of martial arts. Since 2004 he is the technical director of the Chinese Wushu Italy school, and during these years of passionate teaching and guidance, he formed many Italian athletes who won various national and international competitions.

Known for his technical skills, his natural ability of interpretation, and his all-round experience and passion in many wushu and taiji styles, in 2005 is nominated the Italian ambassador for the Wudang Style and recognized as one of the best 100 athletes in the world.

In 2006 he also received the prestigious qualification as a member of the 20th generation of the Taiji Chen Style, a title given by one of the four Buddha Warriors from the Chen Village and a representative member of the 19th generation of the Taiji
